By starting on the ground with your horse...teaching
him to respect your space, move forward with rhythm and grace, move backwards easily with coordination, bend left
and right with supple ease, you are establishing the foundation to gain harmony and understanding under saddle.
The concept of starting on the ground is not new, just
one that has been misplaced. Too often we jump on our horse, ready to ride without preparing our horse mentally or physically.
Page Turner, of Albemarle County, Virginia, gives
lessons and clinics on the Five Basic Skills and Frank Bell's Gentle Solutions. She will also work with your horse, developing the skills and
concepts necessary for you to understand the Five Basic Skills and the accompanying principles.
Page addresses issues arising when riding,
competing, trail riding, foxhunting and day to day handling.
She shares simple ground exercises to help
your horse:
- become better balanced physically and mentally
- improve his performance at competitions
- understand the more difficult movements of upper
level dressage,
- stand quietly in chaotic situations
- and much, much more!
